Team & Culture:

  • The ideal candidate will have 5 years experience of operating heavy equipment and be willing to do shift work.
  • Joining an established team, the successful candidate will be comfortable working in a remote site while living in camp.
  • They will be comfortable taking direction and working on their own but also able to contribute to a team environment.
  • Must be able to transport themselves to & from site or to a designated marshalling point.


Expectations

  • Pre-shift check & completion of Mobile Equipment Check List.
  • Warm up and refueling prior to start of workday.
  • Proficiently operate up to 65 ton excavators and/or finish dozers from D5 to D8.
  • Ensure servicing at scheduled times.
  • Keep machine & tracks clean and free of loose debris.
  • Keep windows, any mirrors, and lights clean & free of any items obscuring visibility.
  • Maintain operable fire extinguishers, fire tools, shovel & Pulaski on machine.
  • Maintain daily logbook of machine hours.
  • Immediately notify supervisor and/or site mechanic of any problems.
  • Be familiar with environmental spill response procedures.
  • Operators must be familiar with and able to read documents commonly used with their equipment, such as design details and drawings.
  • Be familiar with & understand project’s Environmental Response Plan and company’s environmental objectives, rules, and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner according to Provincial regulations and site safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience of operating excavator and/or finish dozer.
  • Class 5 Driver’s licence.
  • Must be willing to do shift work.
  • Background in construction and heavy civil experience an asset.
