Role Overview

  • Reporting to the EVP & Chief Project Development Officer, the Director, Health & Safety, Projects (the “Director”) will lead and support Health and Safety at the Enterprise and Projects-levels.
  • They will provide overall direction and guidance to the Projects group on all Occupational Health, Safety & Hygiene programs, along with leading and advancing significant enterprise H&S initiatives globally.

  • The primary responsibility is that all Major Projects comply with enterprise, regional and local regulations and implement a structured Health and Safety management system with emphasis on the proactive identification of workplace and activity-related hazards, required controls and residual attributed risk.
  • The Director must ensure appropriate, capable teams are assigned to all Projects in coordination with each Project Director/Manager to implement H&S strategy, programs, records management, system audits, incident investigation and training on a global scale across all Projects.
  • The overriding focus is the identification and effective control of exposures with the potential to result in serious injury, illness and fatality.

The Director will also be an integral member of Teck's Enterprise H&S team.

- This position is based in Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON with an expectation of regular travel to Teck Projects including those at high-altitude.
